A ROLLS Royce which features in County Durham's open-air spectacular Kynren was the star attraction at an annual car show.

Bishop Auckland's New Car Show returned for its fifth successive year today (March 26) and motoring enthusiasts got an extra treat with the appearance of the vintage set of wheels.

The Market Place was once again transformed into a car showroom with dealers from across the region parked up to entice potential buyers.

Councillor Lee Brownson, of Bishop Auckland Town Team, a volunteer-run group which organises the event, said: "It (the car show) is successful for dealers to sell cars and it raises the profile of the town. We're promoting Kynren, all the businesses here and in the town and linking it in together.

"This is all about everybody working together in partnership and is something different."

Among the car dealers in attendance at the car show were Sherwoods, SG Petch, BMW and Mini.

But it was Kynren's Rolls Royce that captured the attention of onlookers who got the chance to climb inside.

The event is one of several organised by the town team.
