THE deadline to take part in one of the region’s biggest 10k fun runs has been extended to accommodate demand.

The Tees Pride 10k and 3k runs due to take place on Sunday, September 4 and runners now have until Wednesday, August 31 to register.

Numbers expected to beat last year’s total and this year’s headline event will start and finish on Hall Drive, adjacent to the junction with Cowley Road in Middlesbrough.

The start and finish area is complemented by the new Athletes’ Village on the green space between Hall Drive and Acklam Hall.

Cllr Lewis Young, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: “The entries are pouring in for the both the Taylor Wimpey Tees Pride 10k and SABIC 3k Fun Run, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic event for runners and spectators alike.
