A MOTORCYCLIST has died after his bike collided with a car on a rural County Durham road this morning.
The incident happened at about 10.30am in the village of Woodland, Teesdale.
The vehicles involved were a Mazda car and a Suzuki bike.
The biker, a man in his early seventies suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by air ambulance to the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Sadly, he was confirmed dead at the hospital shortly after arrival.
The car driver was shaken, but unhurt.
Anyone who was in the area and saw what happened should call the police on 101.
