A TALENT show featuring singing and dancing has raised thousands of pounds for a cancer charity.

Consett’s Got Talent was held at The Grove and Moorside Community Social Club, in Consett, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jess Marshall, 27, teamed up with 26-year-old drag artist Lee Brannigan, aka Bella Bluebell, to organise a show for the charity that supported both of their mothers while they battled cancer.

Jess said: “We were delighted with the response. It was a sell-out with over 250 people in attendance.

“The event raised £3,035 for Macmillan.”

Contestants include singers and dancers, judged by Pop Idol and Big Brother star Zoe Birkett, Vin Welsh of Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Heartbeat and karaoke star Stanley Elvis.

The winner was nine-year-old disco dancer Josh Watson, while the runner up was singer Steph Seymour and in third place was disco dancer Ciara McIllhatton.

Winner of the holiday to Morocco was Brenda Whitfield, who due to being unable to go on the dates given, kindly donated it to Lawrence and Sylvia Day.
