The blaze, which started in one of the waste and recycling buildings, is now out.

Yorwaste staff, under the supervision of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, helped to move waste material to prevent the fire from spreading further. No-one has been injured.

The Environment Agency, along with Yorwaste’s local authority customers – North Yorkshire County Council, Richmondshire District Council and Hambleton District Council – have all been informed of the situation.

Any commercial customers can contact the Yorwaste Customer Contact Centre on 0845-3008889 if they have any concerns.

Yorwaste is working with the fire service to establish how the fire started. There will be some disruption whilst this investigation, and subsequent clear-up, takes place but Yorwaste is working hard to minimise any inconvenience to its customers.

Yorwaste would like to thank North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue for their prompt response and efforts.
