POLICE and the fire service lent an extra special buzz of excitement to a fundraising summer fayre at a Darlington care home.

Hundens Park care home raised more than £325 for the residents fund at Saturday’s event which included a host of attractions such as face painting, craft and home-made gifts, tombola, bric-a-brac stalls and more.

Officers from Durham Constabulary and the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service dropped in to join in the fun and show youngsters around their vehicles.

They proved a massive hit and Deborah Peacock, activities coordinator at Hundens, said the event overall was very well attended.

She added: “We would like to thank everyone for coming and all the volunteers who helped to raise in excess of £325 for the residents fund.

“Extra special thanks go out to Annie Payne, our youngest volunteer at just six-years-old. She kept everyone organised and ran the lucky dip stall.”
