A COUNCILLOR has stood down from his position to take up a role with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Cllr Ansab Shan has resigned from Middlesbrough Council as his appointment means he could no longer serve as a member.
The councillor had represented the Central Ward in town and had previously balanced his role with his job as a solicitor.
He said: “It has been a privilege to represent Central Ward and I would like to thank staff at Middlesbrough Council and my colleagues in Middlesbrough Labour Group for their support and guidance in my time as a councillor.”
His ward partners, Cllr Linda Lewis and Cllr Zafar Uddin said they had all worked well together to represent the area.
A by-election will be held to fill Cllr Shan’s seat, a date for which will be announced in due course.
Middlesbrough Mayor Dave Budd said: “I would like to thank Ansab for his work as a councillor in the last year. I’m sure he will make a big impact in his career at the Crown Prosecution Service and I would like to wish him all the best. ”
