A WORLD-class exhibition of dolls’ houses has celebrated its first birthday in its new home – with a visit from one of its creators.

Jane Fiddick visited Newby Hall, near Ripon, to carry out some miniature maintenance – and see how the show had done gown with visitors.

And she was told the exhibition, which has attracted attention from all over the globe, had been an unprecedented success withvisitors numbers now over the 100,000 mark.

The dolls’ houses were the lifetime’s work of Jane and her friend Caroline Hamilton, who met at the school gates whilst dropping their children off at nursery. They gifted the collection to Newby Hall last year after it became too large for them to house.

Jane said: “I had a look in the comments book and was thrilled to see people have travelled to see these houses from as far afield as Hong Kong and Australia.”
