A SHOWCASE of contemporary paper crafts is set to tour the region this year.

Paperscissorsbook is an exhibition of paper-cut pieces and artist’s books which will take to the road from September until January 2017.

The display the core of programme of activities from rural touring scheme Highlights which will travel through County Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland.

Dr Karen Babayan, of Highlights, said: “There’ll be sculptural paper works as well as more intimate artist’s books and we’re featuring work by British stars of this genre.”

A masterclass will be held at each venue with one of the participating artists. Performances by members of Jackass Youth Theatre will feature in Crook, Stanhope and Hexham.

The exhibition comes to Crook Library from October 7 to 12, St Thomas’ Church Hall, in Stanhope, from October 14 to 16 and The Witham and Barnard Castle Library from November 11 to 19.
