A BIKER was left seriously injured after a collision with a car in North Yorkshire.

The incident happened on the A171 Guisborough to Whitby Road near Egton at about 4pm on Sunday, July 17.

It involved a Suzuki motorcycle and a grey Mercedes CL travelling in the same direction towards Guisborough.

The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from Hartlepool, suffered back and chest injuries and was airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

His injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Mercedes, a 38-year-old man from Stockton, was uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash, to contact them. The road was blocked and reopened at about 7pm.
