SHAMED footballer Adam Johnson’s luxury five bed detached home has been placed up for sale with a price tag of just under £1.9m.

Tollgate Lodge in Stockton Road, Castle Eden, County Durham, just off the A19, is being advertised with high-end estate agents Fine and Country and can be viewed on the Rightmove website.

A lengthy description on the website describes it as a “property of prestige and rarity” and an “individual, designer home that offers luxurious living on a grand scale”.

Set in 2.2 acres of woodland, its features include a stone spiral staircase, a games room with built-in bar and a cinema room for “group film viewings”. There is also a gym on the first floor and, outdoors, an AstroTurf putting green.

The five bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathroom, while three have dressing rooms.

Ex-Sunderland, Manchester City, Middlesbrough and England winger Johnson, 29, received a six year jail sentence at Bradford Crown Court after being convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old fan.

Last week his sister Faye Johnson revealed on social media that a judge had rejected an application to appeal against his conviction, but his lawyers indicated he would be making a renewed application.

Johnson lived at the electric gated property with his former girlfriend Stacey Flounders and their baby daughter while playing for Sunderland, where he earned £60,000 a week.

His new home is the more down to earth surrounds of Moorland Prison, near Doncaster, where he is currently serving his jail sentence.

Fine and Country did not want to comment on the sale of the Castle Eden property when approached by The Northern Echo.
