Police seek bicycle accident witnesses

POLICE are seeking witnesses to a bicycle accident.

An unconscious male cyclist was found on Friday at about 5pm lying in the road near Hallwith Farm, Spennithorne, North Yorkshire, with serious head injuries.

He was on an unclassified lane leading from the A684 to Coverbridge.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital by air ambulance where he was described as being in a poorly but stable condition.

It is believed the man is from Bedale and in his 30s. His family have attended the hospital.

Police think the cyclist was descending a hill when he left the road and hit a stone wall. He has then rebounded into the road where he was found by a passing motorist.

He was wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt and riding a mountain bike. Anyone who saw the cyclist or the collision is asked to call PC Chris Marlowe, from Richmond police Station, on 0845-6060247.
