Picnic in the Park, Thirsk Hall on Saturday/Sunday 
The Picnic is at Thirsk Hall in a lovely setting of ten acres of parkland overlooking Thirsk Race Course. This favourite summer event is organised by Thirsk Action Group in aid of Action Medical Research & local charities. 
The Ultimate Elton, not only looks like his idol, but sounds like him too. Paul Bacon as Elton John does both! Paul’s performances often feature some of Elton’s actual clothes, bought from his ‘Out the Closet’ sales. The Ultimate Elton will entertain you with songs such as Your Song, Candle in the Wind, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Sacrifice and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word. ULTIMATE BOWIE: Ultimate Bowie has some 20+ years experience as a professional musician, working in bands as lead guitarist/vocalist and also as a solo performer, Ed Blaney put together the definitive tribute to David Bowie, one of his greatest influences throughout his career. You should prepare to be transported across 40 years of Bowie, from Spaceboy to Superstar, by Ed‘s Ultimate Bowie. Precise attention to detail has been taken under Ed’s musical direction of his seven piece band through to the costumes he wears to recreate Bowie in spectacular style. Six British Artists exhibition, The Station, Richmond, runs until July 13
Six diverse British artists - mixed media practitioner Pam Pickering, four painters (Phil Bowman, John Pickering, Janice Kok, Anne Wood ) and printmaker Alan Abbey, come together for this exciting and vibrant show of recent work. With a commonality of purpose to excite and stimulate the viewer, this extensive exhibition promises to delight and provoke in equal measure. Pam and John Pickering are returning to exhibit at The Station for the third time, but for the other artists it will be their first experience of this venue. On show will be a wide variety of art work from soft sculptured figures and jewellery, to colour-rich landscapes, figurative compositions and linocut prints. All work will be available for sale off the wall.

Great Ayton Open Gardens and Duck Race, on Saturday/Sunday, 1-5pm
Ten private gardens of all shapes and sizes will be opening in aid of Herriot Hospice Homecare. Tickets available from a marquee on the Lower Green. There will be a duck race on Lower Green at 2pm on Sunday. Refreshments and plants will be for sale. 01609-777413.

St Nicholas, Maison Dieu, Garden open on Sunday, 11.30-5.30pm
The gardens belonging to St Nicholas, the oldest dwelling in Richmond, were planted from 1905 in a series of compartments and are today being sensitively resurrected in the spirit of their founder, the Hon Robert 'Bobbie' James. Wonderful long borders, orchards and topiary hedges. Tickets at the gate Adults £3.50 Concessions £2.50, children free, dogs on leads welcome. Homemade teas. Peter Pan, Guisborough Forest and Walkway, on Sunday, 4pm
