WEEKS after signing a ground-breaking record deal, swimmer Lyndon Longhorne is being tipped to appear on the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.

The meningitis survivor, from Crook, County Durham, hit the headlines earlier this month when it was revealed he had become Britain’s first quadruple amputee model.

And now there are rumours the 20-year-old could be a housemate on Channel 5’s popular reality show.

In an article in the Daily Star, a source from Celebrity Big Brother is quoted as saying: “Lyndon would be great on Celebrity Big Brother. He is an inspiration and an all-round Mr Nice Guy. Viewers would love him.”

Lyndon, who narrowly missed out on a place on Team GB's swimming team at the Rio Paralympics, said the story had come as a surprise to him.

“It’s not something I can really comment on,” he said. “We’ll just have to wait and see.”

His manager at Tyne Tees Models Lesley Lister added: “Nobody has been in contact with me about it, but it would be wonderful if he was offered that opportunity. I’m sure he would win. He is such a great guy.”

Lyndon was just eight months old when he lost both legs, his right arm and part of his left hand to meningitis.

He first got into the pool aged two and has been swimming competitively since he was 12-years-old.

In 2013, he was fitted with prosthetic legs and the following year he received a bionic hand.

Besides his many swimming accolades, Lyndon is a former overall winner of The Northern Echo’s Local Hero Award, an Olympic Torchbearer, a Meningitis Now ambassador and a budding entrepreneur in the process of setting up his own sportswear brand.

A Channel 5 spokesperson said the channel did not comment on rumoured housemates.
