PROMINENT musicians will mark the end of an innovative project this week.

Former Futureheads musician Barry Hyde and Goy Boy McIlroy musician Dave Saunders will host the final session of the popular Darlington Music Forum.

DMF was launched earlier this year to create a dedicated meeting space for musicians and performers to communicate and collaborate.

A pilot programme has incorporated a weekly schedule featuring industry speakers, songwriter sessions, jam evenings and open mic events.

Dave Saunders and managing director of The Forum, Allison McKay, organised the well-attended events.

Ms McKay said: “The Darlington Music forum has been a great success and we are so pleased with the weekly attendance to these sessions.

“We are now planning our winter season which will include a Battle of the Bands, with judges and prizes already confirmed.”

At this week’s event, Barry Hyde will share his experiences as a working musician after releasing five albums, having a top ten hit and playing more than 800 gigs in 13 years as the frontman for The Futureheads.

Dave Saunders’ session will explore the ‘dying art of being a frontman’ and will discuss lyrics, singing and performance.

The event starts at 7pm. Admission is free.
