DAISY the dog has returned to the arms of her loving family.

Earlier this week, The Northern Echo reported on the plight of the Jeffrey family, whose Jack Russell had escaped from Ketton Hall Kennels, near Darlington on Tuesday.

A frantic search ensued, with family and friends scouring the town for days in the hope of finding Daisy, the best friend of three-year-old Sasha Jeffrey.

Two ladies – ‘Sue and Dione’ – found her early on Saturday morning wandering along Durham Road, close to Beaumont Hill.

Daisy’s family have now been reunited with their beloved pet and say they have been overwhelmed with the support of the community.

Pippa Jeffrey thanked the women who found her and said: “We’re so overwhelmed to say that Daisy has been found and is back home.

“I got the call at 7am this morning and can’t thank everyone enough for all of their support, especially the helpers that have been out looking for her.

“Sasha is happy to have her Daisy-baby back.”
