A WOMAN found dead in a County Durham house has been named.
Sandra Gill was found with head injuries in the living room of the property in Palm Road, West Cornforth, near Ferryhill, at about 11.30pm, on Saturday.
Police and paramedics attended the incident but the 50-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation has been launched and a 54-year-old man was arrested in connection with the woman’s death and bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Ashton, of Durham Police, who is leading the inquiry, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of this lady’s death.
“It is very much an isolated incident and I would like to reassure local people that there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest a wider risk to the public.”
