A HOTEL has announced it will be refreshing participants in the upcoming St Teresa’s Hospice Midnight Walk.

Every person who enters the event at South Park on Friday, June 17 will receive a Wonderland-style Drink Me bottle containing a signature smoothie, which the creators have named Yellow Sunshine.

The drink has been made by staff at Darlington hotel Houndgate Townhouse.

Hotel manager Angela Lowe said: “It’s been great fun whipping up something for everyone who turns out to support the hospice, and we think we’ve got a winner.

“In the book, Lewis Caroll tells us the potion that shrinks Alice tastes like cherry tart, custard, pineapple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast; we’ve come up with something along those lines, but which tastes a bit better.

“We’re sending enough bottles for all the walkers; we hope they like it, and that it doesn’t shrink them down too small.”

St Teresa’s head of nursing Alison Marshall visited the Houndgate Townhouse to sample the drink and thank staff for their support.

She said: “The smoothie is absolutely delicious, and I’m looking forward to getting another taste at the Midnight Walk.

“Everyone at the Hospice is hugely grateful to the staff at Houndgate Townhouse for their support.

“This year I’m entering with a team of hospice nurses; I’m walking in memory of my mum, who passed away 10 years ago.”

There is still time to enter the Midnight Walk by visiting www.tinyurl.com/WonderlandWalk or calling the hospice on 01325-254321.
