A TEENAGER has been caught after driving at 109mph on one of North Yorkshire’s busiest routes - with two children in the car.
The 18-year-old was driving a modified Volkswagen Golf when he was stopped on the A64 at Whitwell Hill, near York, on Saturday night.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the driver had two children were among five occupants in the car, and the vehicle had a number of defects.
He said: "There were numerous defects on the car, and enquiries are ongoing with the insurance company as modifications were not declared, which may invalidate cover."
The spokesman said the driver had held a valid licence for only 11 months, and the vehicle was untaxed. It also had a defective tyre and a loose battery.
Police seized the vehicle under DVLA powers, and the driver was reported for all offences.
A 46-year-old man from Leicestershire was also stopped at the same location on Saturday while driving at 92mph. He was issued with a traffic offence report.
