THE Vote Leave campaign bus will tour the region tomorrow (Tuesday, May 31) in an attempt to drum up support in next month's EU referendum.

Polls are volatile, but in March a YouGov survey showed that a small majority of North-Easterners were for remaining in the European Union.

Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales were much more favourable to staying in Europe with 'pro' ahead between ten and 30 per cent.

But the only other English region with a majority opinion who wanted to stay in was London with a 16 per cent 'remain' lead. In the North-East the remain side had a lead of just two per cent but Yorkshire had a ten per cent majority for 'leave.'

The campaign bus will visit Sunderland at Albion Place at 12.45pm, Hartlepool (where the UKIP candidate came second at last year's General Election) at Victoria Road at 1.45pm, Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium at 3.15pm and Redcar town centre at 4pm.

The EU referendum will be held on Thursday, June 23.
