TOMMY MILLER, the former Hartlepool United and Sunderland midfielder, has been appointed assistant manager at Spennymoor Town.

After helping Halifax Town win the FA Trophy at Wembley last weekend, Miller and boss Jim Harvey were replaced.

And Miller has quickly found a new role, replacing Carl Beasley.

Ainsley said: “Tommy has just come off the back of winning the FA trophy as Assistant Manager of Halifax and at 37 will also register as a player.

“Tommy has a wealth of professional football experience and coaching qualifications which will be invaluable this season. We are also very like-minded people who want to play the same way and I think it's the perfect match.’’

Miller added: “I am delighted to be joining Spennymoor. I have known Jason for a number of years and have always been impressed with the way his teams have played and the success he has had.

“Having met with Brad Groves the other day and hearing of his ambitions for the club and the plans he has in place then I know it's an exciting time to be joining.

“With my experience and understanding of the game I am looking forward to helping the club reach its targets in moving onwards and upwards.’’

Moors last week announced the signing of five players for their assault on the Evo-Stik Premier League - Graeme Armstrong, Andrew Johnson, Rob Ramshaw, James Curtis and Jamie Chandler.
