POLICE searching for a missing 55-year-old woman who disappeared from home last week said tonight they have found a body.
Colleen Jarvis left her home in Burlington Avenue, York, at about 12.15pm on Thursday, May 26.
A major search operation was launched and her family issued a heartfelt plea urging her to get in touch.
However, police were called to reports of a woman’s body in a remote location in York just before 8pm tonight.
A statement released by North Yorkshire Police said the scene has been secured and although a formal identification has yet to take place, Ms Jarvis’s family has been informed.
The statement continued: "Investigations are currently taking place but police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."
