A SERVICE celebrating the life of the man credited with bringing first class cricket to Durham will be held next month.
Don Robson CBE, who died in March aged 82, was the driving force behind Durham County Cricket Club’s bid to join the cricket elite in the early 1990s.
He was the longest-serving leader of Durham County Council in modern-times, from 1989 until 2001.
A service of thanksgiving and celebration will be held at Durham County Cricket Club, in Chester-le-Street on Sunday, June 19 at 2.30pm.
Anyone wishing to attend is asked to email organisers at donrobsoncelebration@gmail.com
