A MAN has died in hospital days after his car hit a stone wall.
It happened on Ebchester Bank, near to The Derwent Walk, at Ebchester, near Consett, just after 7.30pm on Sunday (May 22).
The driver of the Ford Fusion involved, a 33-year-old local man, was airlifted to the RVI in Newcastle with serious head injuries.
His passenger, a 33 year-old woman from Consett, was also taken to the RVI with an arm injury.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said this morning: “Sadly, yesterday evening the driver died from his injuries without regaining consciousness.”
The coroner has been informed and an inquest is expected to open in the next few days.
