A DARLINGTON man has been in court charged with using a metal bar to steal around £750 from a betting shop.
Christopher Vincent Paul Henderson, 29, did not enter a plea for one count of robbery and another of possessing an offensive weapon when he appeared from custody today.
The offences are alleged to have taken place at Ladbrokes Bookmakers, on Neasham Road, Darlington, on Sunday.
Newton Aycliffe Magistrates sent the case to Teesside Crown Court for a hearing on June 7.
The defendant, of West Moor Road, was remanded in custody.
A police chase saw a man pursued through a nearby housing estate before being apprehended in front of shocked residents on Sunday.
The money has since been recovered.
