THE Bishop of Durham has led a second series of prayer walks around his patch as part of a tour to meet a range of North-East communities.

More than 80 people met the Right Reverend Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham, at Darlington train station to mark his second deanery walk in the region.

And a four-day tour of the town has seen the Bishop meet with emergency services personnel, charity organisers, business owners and other faith leaders based in Darlington.

Ascension Day on Thursday, May 5, marked a fitting way to start the walk which will continue throughout the town before re-starting in Stockton on Thursday, May 12.

The Bishop said: “I love prayer walks because they are a great way to discover an area, meet its people and pray together with them.

“As we walk and pray together we seek to bless, and be blessed by, the people and communities that we visit.

"I hope that people will join me. It is fun, enjoyable and really rewarding to do.”
