IT isn't every day you see a predator prowling the streets of Whitby.

The titular character from the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action movie was spotted among the crowds thronging the North Yorkshire town's streets during the Whitby Goth weekend.

The giant alien bounty hunter was seen examining the sea food stalls - maybe because it already has a face like a bucket of smashed crabs.

And it wasn't just the predator who was turning heads. Whitby's bi-annual Goth weekend sees the town transformed into a steampunk fantasty world. Among the characters spotted this year were white walkers from Game of Thrones, various vampires, pirates and the Lord of the Undead himself, Whibty's favourite Transylvanian tourist, Count Dracula.

The Northern Echo:

The Goth weekend started in 1994 and has since become one of the town's biggest money spinners, attracting thousands of alternative lifestyle fans including Goths, steampunks, emos and bikers.

Festivities kicked off on Friday with live music at the Whitby Pavilion.

Visitors browsed dozens of stalls selling alternative clothing, accessories and even Goth-themed confectionary.

Yesterday there was a football match held at Whitby Town's Turnbull ground on Upgang Lane with all proceeds going towards foodbank4whitby. Several spectators brought their own donations of tinned and packet foods.
