A YOUNG beauty therapist marked five years in remission from cancer by having her head shaved for charity.

Nadine Turnbull, 23, had her long locks cut off to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which funds and builds specialist cancer units in NHS hospitals for patients aged 13 to 24.

Her boyfriend Edward Cook and Rachel Carfoot also took part in the challenge, which has so far raised more than £1,000 for the cause.

Miss Turnbull discovered she was suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma while at college.

Now a beauty therapist at Bannatyne Health Club and Spa in Durham, she said: “I feel so lucky to have been in remission for five years and hope that my fundraising makes a difference to the lives of other young people who are living with cancer.

“I know first-hand the amazing work that charities such as Look Good Feel Better and Teenage Cancer Trust do. Being with other people that are going through the same things helps you feel normal and relax.

“As a beauty therapist I understand that the way you look can dramatically affect the way you feel, that’s why it’s really important for women going through cancer treatment to be offered support to look their best.”
