A MUM whose son struggles with arthritis is to run the London Marathon for charity.

Kelly Collier, whose six-year-old son Joe suffers from juvenile idiopathic arthritis, will tackle the 26.2-mile route around the capital on Sunday (April 24) to raise money for Arthritis Research UK.

The Durham mum hopes to raise £4,000 for the cause.

She said: “I had no idea that arthritis affected children too or that it could be so debilitating.

“My Joe is no ordinary boy – he has been so brave and positive throughout all of his treatment.

“He just takes everything that’s thrown at him, no complaining, always smiling and trying to get one over on his brothers.

“Arthritis Research UK has been an invaluable source of information and comfort for me during a time when I felt quite alone and clueless as to what was happening to my little boy.

“That’s why I’m honoured to be raising funds for the charity as it will help fund vital research to help children like my son.”
