A TEACHING farm is to hold two open days in coming weeks.

Bill Quay Farm, in Gateshead, which hosts East Durham College animal care courses, will be open to potential students on Wednesday, February 17 and Saturday, March 19 from 10am to 2pm.

Youngsters from urban areas of Tyneside have been studying land-based courses at the farm for the last three years.

The open days are aimed at would-be students looking to start courses this September. Visitors can tour the facilities and meet tutors.

There are level one and two animal care courses covering horticulture, animal care and agriculture.

Course leader Ian Hall said: “It’s great for us to be able to continue to run these courses at Bill Quay Farm.

“We’ve had a great three years bringing these animal care courses to another part of the region, away from our Houghall campus in Durham.

“There have been some great students to come through the doors at Bill Quay and I can’t wait to meet the next set of students looking to start in September.”
