BUSINESSES heading to the Yorkshire Dales for team-building events are able to leave something valuable behind – a native tree.

TeamWalking, an outdoor adventure specialist, is dedicating a new tree for every business that books one of their team-building walking activities in the Yorkshire Dales.

This supports the work of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) which is working to restore native broadleaf woodlands in the area.

Mark Reid, owner of TeamWalking, which offers walking activities such as orienteering to boost staff moral and improve team working, said: “Here at TeamWalking, we are passionate about giving something back to the Yorkshire Dales, and so we always base our outdoor adventures from great pubs to help the local economy and we plant at least one deciduous tree in the Dales with YDMT on behalf of each of our clients.

“I firmly believe that we should always give a little back to help sustain this beautiful area for future generations to enjoy as we do today.”

The scheme supports the Dales Woodland Restoration Programme, which aims to double the amount of broadleaf woodland in the Dales by 2020. It is funded by a partnership including the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT), the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the Forestry Commission.

Lindsay Wallace, communications officer at YDMT said: “It’s fantastic to work with an organisation like TeamWalking, who are doing two invaluable things for the Dales – helping to restore beautiful native woodlands, and encouraging visitors to appreciate and value this special area."
