A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after injuring his leg with an angle grinder.
The man, thought to be in his 60s, suffered severe leg injuries in the accident at a house in Horden, near Peterlee this afternoon (Thurs, Feb 11).
A Great North Air Ambulance crew was called at around 1.25pm and treated the victim at the scene, before he was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment.
An air ambulance spokesman said: “The man was treated on the scene by the GNAAS team, who treated his wound and administered pain relief before transporting him to hospital.”
The patient was said to be in a stable condition when he arrived at hospital.
