GOVERNMENT delays in telling council bosses what money they will have to spend has led to North Yorkshire County Council cancelling it’s budget meeting.

The announcements were due to be made this (Monday, February 8) afternoon only left the council just one day to sort out the budget and decide on what council tax to set.

The council has already been warned budgets are being cut by over £167m up to 2020, but the authority is still waiting for final information. The Executive Committee which was due to meet on Tuesday February 9 has now been moved to Tuesday February 16 with the meeting of the full county council now set for February 24.
