ONE of Britain’s best-known barbers Mucktaru Kargbo spent two days working with hairdressing students at a North-East college.

The London-based stylist, known as MK, visited East Durham College and staged a demonstration for 300 people at the college’s Lubetkin Theatre in Peterlee.

During the Bridging The Gap show, he put on a number of demonstrations to the large crowd, showing off his techniques learned during 20 years in the industry.

Mr Kargbo said: “We have had a fantastic time up in the North-East the past couple of days with East Durham College.

“We have had great fun working in their state-of-the-art facilities at the Peterlee campus, I hope the students have taken some tips and techniques away from the sessions we have held with them.

“The show we put together was a great success, and it was lovely to meet some of the North-East’s great barbering community."

East Durham College’s barbering lecturer, Alison Scattergood added: “It was a huge honour to have MK with us over the last couple of days here at the college.

“The students have really enjoyed having MK and his team around, learning some valuable techniques; he has been a huge inspiration to the students."
