HOUSEHOLDERS in part of North Yorkshire are facing their first district Council Tax rise in seven years.
Ryedale’s policy and resources committee has agreed a 1.99 per cent rise, giving the authority an additional £73,526 for the next financial year.
The district’s part of the overall Council Tax bill is just over 11 per cent of the total bill, equivalent to £176.72 for a Band D property.
The remainder of the bill is made up by the precepts of North Yorkshire County Council, the police authority and fire authority in addition to town and parish council precepts.
Council leader Linda Cowling said: "This is the first increase for several years and is essential if we are to continue to deliver the necessary services in Ryedale.”
