A HORSE rider has been seriously injured after a fall near Shildon on Sunday.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the accident at around 2.45pm.
It involved a 60-year-old woman from Bishopton near Stockton.
A spokesman said: "The Great North Air Ambulance was requested by a North East Ambulance Service rapid response paramedic after a horse rider fell from a large horse at speed and sustaining serious head and leg injuries.
"She was stabilised on scene and then flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook Hospital in six minutes."
