RECENT cases at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court include:

Stephen Hewitson, 23, of Hambleton Place, Thirsk, admitted to possession of cannabis. He was given a community order and was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He was fined a £60 victim surcharge, and £85 prosecution costs.

Gary Derek Russell, 42, of Evergreen Avenue, Colburn, admitted to assault by beating. He was fined £400, with a £40 victim surcharge, and £85 prosecution costs.

Asa James Lee, 28, of Seamer, Stokesley, admitted to threatening or abusive behaviour. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, a £15 victim surcharge, and £85 prosecution costs.

Sam Ryan McEwan, 21, of Evergreen Avenue, Colburn, admitted to assault by beating. He was given a community order and order to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Kierran Adams, 33, of Baldersby, Thirsk, was proved guilty in his absence of driving while uninsured for the vehicle. He was fined £145, with a £20 victim surcharge and £110 costs.

Anthony Peter Differ, 34, of Lys Crescent, Catterick Garrison, was proved guilty in his absence of driving at a speed exceeding 70mph on the A1(M). He was fined £440, a £44 victim surcharge and £85 costs. His driving licence was endorsed with four penalty points.

Kevin James Hutchinson, 38, of Masterman Court, Colburn, was proved guilty in his absence of driving without insurance or a valid test certificate for his vehicle. He was fined £660 with a £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs. His licence was endorsed with seven penalty points.
