STUDENTS hoping to be the next Stella McCartney, Damien Hirst or Antony Gormley can attend the open day of a specialist art college.

Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD) is hosting an open day at its further education (FE) site in Middlesbrough to showcase its courses including A-levels, foundation diplomas and BTEC extended diplomas.

Subjects include fashion and textiles, interactive media, photography and fine art.

Visitors will be able to tour the facilities, including dedicated studios and workshops.

CCAD is one of the few remaining specialist art colleges in the country, and former students work with the BBC, Madame Tussauds and Louis Vuitton, as well as in Hollywood.

Hannah Wood, 18, from Darlington completed her BTEC Extended Diploma in Photography at the College last summer, achieving a triple distinction star and going on to study for a photography degree at the College's university-level campus in Hartlepool.

CCAD students have also produced textile designs for Armani, Chanel and Paul Smith and exhibited photographic works in London and Beijing.

* The open day is held at CCAD on Saturday, January 23 from 10am to 2pm. For more information contact (01642) 288888 or visit www.ccad.ac.uk.
