HUNDREDS of school children from across seventeen primary schools in Stockton have been invited to an event to promote safety.

The event to be held at Harrowgate Primary School, Hardwick, in Stockton, takes place from Monday (Monday November 30) to Friday, excluding Wednesday, aims to keep pupils safe and well.

Cleveland Police and agencies will talk to the pupils about their job roles and what they can do to help children and communities in the local area.

The force will discuss the legal age of criminal responsibility, what crime is and how crime affects the community amongst other crime related topics.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Ryan Davey has organised the event along with the help of PCSO’s Liz Lutz, Paul Webster, Helen Pendlington and Gary Liddell.

PCSO Davey said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local schools, the force and partner agencies to come together to promote how to stay safe in the local area.

“It is important to inform children about how to stay safe, and what we all do to help protect people in our local area. It is a fun way to get everyone together to learn and interact with each other for the benefit of our community.”

Multiple agencies are also involved, including the Ambulance Service, Cleveland Fire Brigade, local authority enforcement officers, Hardwick Youth Project (HYPE), Thirteen Group, Hardwick Residents Association and North Star Housing.

Each of the pupils will be given a wide variety of information and a safety competition will be held for them to win prizes.
