A WOMAN accused of burgling a neighbours house while he attended the funeral of his wife has been remanded in custody for her own safety.

Clare Frances Davies pleaded not guilty to the break-in when she appeared before a district judge at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday (FRI).

The 24-year-old mother of four, now of (CORR) Lindrick House, Eston, near Middlesbrough, also denies breaching her bail conditions days after being released from police custody after she was arrested and charged with the burglary.

District Judge Roger Elsey remanded Davies in custody for her own safety after hearing feeling were running high in the Grangetown area.

Davies' next hearing will be at the magistrates court when she will be sent to Teesside Crown Court for trial.

Burglary victim, Ian Colpitts, returned to his Wilton Way home from the cemetery on Friday May 11 to find his home had been ransacked and treasured personal items were missing.
