A TEESDALE drama club has been hitting the stage with a new production.

Gainford Drama Club will perform its amateur production of Ken Ludwig’s “The Game’s Afoot” at the Academy Theatre, in Gainford, tonight (November 28), at 7.30pm.

Set in December 1936, the play follows William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, who has invited his fellow members to his mansion for a weekend of seasonal revelry.

But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in the isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous.

Then it is up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears.

Club member, Iris Hillery said: “Audiences have been most appreciative. The plot is full of twists and turns which keep the audience guessing - and laughing - right to the end.”
