A STOLEN car has crashed into a house in Hartlepool.

It is understood the crash occurred in Throston Grange Lane in the early hours of the morning.

Cleveland Police say the Audi A4 was taken in an earlier burglary.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Police are trying to trace the driver.

This is an account of the incident reported by an eyewitness on social media.

"At 3.30am this morning some **** drove at great speed down Thorston Grange Lane and hit the traffic island 200m from the roundabout.

"This collision dislodged a wheel of the Audi he/she was travelling in and the car careered a further 200m down the road towards the Easington Road roundabout and crashed through the wall of this house.

"The car then proceeded across the garden, hit the front door of the house and smashed windows/plants before going through into next door's garden smashing their windows and is now in an elevated position against the house.

"The driver left the scene (ran off into the night)."
