TWO men are being hunted by police following an allegation they chased a young girl who was walking to school.

The nine-year-old was approached by two men in a car at about 8.30am this morning (Thursday, November 26) on the junction of Rosslare Road and Ragpath Lane, in Roseworth in Stockton, which was only a few minutes walk from her home.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "She was approached by two males who she believed to be teenagers inside a dark blue five-door saloon type car which was covered in mud.

"The driver was white, about 6ft tall, slim build, with brown hair and was wearing a green tracksuit. His passenger was also white, 5ft 10in tall, slim build, with brown hair and was wearing a black tracksuit.

"The car stopped next to the girl and the front seat passenger opened the window and told the girl to get inside. She ran off down Ragpath Lane away from the car, both males got out of the vehicle and chased her a short way.

"The girl made her way to Rosebrook Primary School, Stockton. Whilst the girl wasn’t injured she was left distressed by the incident."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
