THE Under-14 Boys Team of Wellfield Tennis Club reached the regional final of the LTA's National Junior Club League with a stunning victory over Blaydon at the weekend.

Having fought through the Durham & Cleveland division and beaten Northumbria's winning group, the team now faces Yarm in the final on Sunday, May 20.

Strong performances from team members Sam Hornby, Jack Barron, James Potts and Ben Hall in the semi-final ensured their place in what was a tense match.

Although eventual winners at 5-1, some of the matches were so close they were almost unbearable to watch.

Sam put all spectators through nail-biting moments before winning 10-6 on the tiebreak decider in his singles. James and Ben once again paired up for their doubles match and showed their customary nerves of steel.

Jack's serve, now fully on song, means he is a force to be reckoned with.

Previous matches have been won with the vital help of Michael Waldin and Christopher Bury and all boys are looking forward, not just to the final, but to an enjoyable season in all their matches.
