YOUNGSTERS will meet at Hall Garth School, Middlesbrough, for a Student Voice Day today to discuss a five-year national plan focusing on ways of improving the lives of Britain's children and young people.

The main focus of the day is "Progress through Participation", looking at decision making.

Stepping out: Redcar and Cleveland Walking and Cycling Festival returns for a fourth year, starting on Friday, June 8. There will be an open evening at the Guisborough Forest and Walkway Visitor Centre, from 6.30pm, a barbecue and walks.

FIGHTING BLINDNESS: Specsavers shops in Middlesbrough and Stockton are to raise money with in-store fundraising initiatives and donations to fund tests to stop the spread of blindness resulting from diabetes.

FASHION HELP: Call centre worker Matthew Steventon, 26, from Middlesbrough, is holding a fashion show in Middlesbrough's Town Hall on August 24, to raise money to help the victims of Aids.

ENVIRONMENT AGENDA:

The Guisborough Area Environment Committee will meet on Tuesday, June 5, at Belmont School, Lauderdale Drive, Guisborough, at 6pm, and again on Tuesday, June 10, in the Parish Hall, Bow Street, Guisborough.

CUPPA TIME: Cruse Bereavement Care will be holding a coffee morning on Saturday, at Sunnyfield House, Westgate, Guisborough, from 10am to noon.
