A MOTORIST has been arrested for failing a drugs test after speeding off from police.
Officers in Middlesbrough spotted a vehicle being driven erratically last night.
Police tried to stop the man but he sped off at high speed taking the patrol car on a "dangerous pursuit" through the streets of the Teesside town.
The motorist got away but the vehicle was tracked down.
A man was later found hiding in a nearby house.
He failed a drug screening test and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: "Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which made off at high speed and after a short but dangerous pursuit the vehicle escaped.
"Being the conscientious officers we are, we soon tracked the vehicle down and a male was arrested after being found hiding in a nearby house.
"The male was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, no licence and no insurance.
"The male also failed a roadside drug screening test and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
"Whilst in the males address we also spoke with a female who turned out to be wanted on warrant, so we ended up with 2 arrested and a vehicle seized."
