PLANS are underway for Ferryhill’s annual Christmas fair.

The Ferryhill 2000 Committee and Ferryhill Town Council are hosting the event on Friday, November 25.

The event starts at 2pm with children’s fairground rides, refreshments and a craft fair in St Luke’s Parish Centre.

A candle-lit procession involving children from the local primary schools will depart St Luke’s Church, at 4pm, led by Santa Claus on a sleigh, and head to the town hall gardens for carol singing, at 4.15pm.

The official switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights will take place at 4.30pm.

Adults and children who would like to take part in the procession should meet at St. Luke’s Church at 3.45pm.

The 2000 Committee will issue free glow sticks to anyone taking part in the procession.

Meanwhile, Santa Claus will make an appearance at the E-Café from 4.30pm to 6pm to meet local children and distribute presents in a specially designed grotto.

There will also be tea, coffee and a tombola.

Stalls are still available for the craft fair but sellers are recommended to book early.

A stall costs £20 and there are a limited number of charity stalls available for a reduced rate of £10.

Tables and chairs will be provided.

Anyone interested in holding a stall at the event, or for any further information, call John Rogerson at Ferryhill Town Hall on 01740 652157.
