A WOMAN was found unconscious on the beach after making a desperate call for help.
Both RNLI lifeboats from Redcar were launched just after 11.30pm on Sunday night after UK Coastguard received a 999 call from a woman, reporting that she was in the sea at Marske.
During the emergency call coastguards lost contact with the woman when waves broke over her.
UK Coastguard officers, together with police officers, the police helicopter and a UK Coastguard helicopter were sent to the scene.
A Redcar Coastguard officer found the woman conscious and laid on the water's edge on the beach near Cliff House, Marske.
He immediately pulled the woman away from the sea and gave first aid.
After initial treatment the woman was carried on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance and taken to James Cook University Hospital.
