A 30-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries on the A174 near Middlesbrough following an accident involving a car this morning (Friday, October 9).
He suffered injuries to his head, neck, pelvis and chest and was described as being in a critical condition.
He was given blood and treated at the scene by North East Ambulance Service paramedics and a Great North Air Ambulance team using a fast response vehicle before being taken by road to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
The collision, which happened at around 8.10am on the eastbound A174 near Ormesby, involved a silver VW Polo, Its female driver was not thought to have been hurt.
The A174 was closed in both directions and caused severe congestion in the area. One lane of the westbound carriageway later reopened and the road fully reopened this afternoon.
