ORGANISERS of two new trail races in the North York Moors National Park say they hope the events will offer a fresh perspective on the protected area.

The park's authority and the Hardmoors Race Series will stage the 10k Turnpike Trot for runners aged 16 and over, and a 5k Rabbit Run for those aged over 14, on Sunday, October 25, from 10.30am at The Moors Centre at Danby.

The events will form the finale of a summer season of events at the park, which is striving to increase visitor numbers and promote events that benefit visitors' wellbeing.

Race organiser Jonathan Steele said: “These two events will take runners through some of the most spectacular scenery to be found anywhere in the country; it’s a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see the Moors in a new light.

"They offer an ideal opportunity for novice runners who may have not had the confidence to enter a fun run before, as well as more seasoned runners.”

Both routes will be marked and marshalled.

Entry fees are £20 for the Turnpike Trot and £10 for the Rabbit Run, to include medals for all finishers, parking, refreshments for all entrants and prizes for category winners, including an under-18 category.
